First up was signing some autographs on cards made up by Joe Lekovish of the MBRA.
It's kind of weird to be on this side of the table. I'm so use to being on the other side and still should be with the likes of Frankie Andreu. I wanted his autograph.
Then we had a little Q&A led by Joe, and Frankie did most of the talking. He did have the most interesting things and experience. Would you rather hear about the Tour De France or Schabobele? Of course I did find Kacey's talk on the 6 days interesting, and always find those stories fascinating. Racing late into the night, and with a party atmosphere sounds like a blast. Guy East has had some good stories on those as well.
Frankie and I also talked about our plans and team goals for the upcoming Tour of Taiwan. We both talked about how it's a huge event for the team, and that we are looking forward to getting the year off on the right foot. The key will be working as a team and being aggressive. Since none of us were teammates last year our 10 day camp prior to leaving will help us get to know each other and bond. Another exciting thing is that none of us have ever been there, so that always makes things interesting. I'm also looking forward to my quick stop and rendezvous with teammates in Anchorage, Alaska.
After that I raffled off a bit of Kenda swag. Ryan of the Tri City Cyclist, my old race team, won my jersey. Which is funny of course because last year I gave the club a bunch of old things and he walked away with two or three, now he won one. Sorry to those who got the size small skinsuits! It's all I had.
Thanks to Joe for inviting us to come up and talk. Plans are already in place to hold the event again, and expanding it. Hopefully I will be able to make it up again.
Ok the recovery week is over, and not a moment to soon as I was itching to get things rolling again. Another 3 week block before camp and then it will be full on from there. Only 4 days between the end of camp and our departure for Taiwan. Things are about to get busy, as if they weren't already with the new addition.
